Five-star Pettersson looking for more

Carl Pettersson is eyeing further glory after claiming his fifth PGA Tour event with victory in the RBC Heritage tournament on Sunday.

The Swede went into the final day with a one-shot lead over Colt Knost but he finished up five shots clear of the field on 14-under par with Zach Johnson claiming the runners-up spot.

Pettersson secured three birdies in his first five holes to pull away from Knost and, after the burly American bogeyed the first hole and struggled to a triple-bogey seven at the third, he was never a factor on the final day, carding a disappointing 74 to finish in third on -8.

Johnson finished on nine-under par with Americans Billy Mayfair and Kevin Stadler sharing fourth place on -6.

But it was all about Pettersson on Sunday and the 34-year-old's accuracy off the tee and with his mid-range irons was the difference as he negotiated his way round the tricky Harbor Town Golf Links with skill.

The Gothenburg-born star admitted his delight at getting win number five stateside and feels there could be more to come.

"Every win is really special. It's getting harder and harder to win out here," he said after his final round. "But five wins is great. "

I'm hoping to add to that.

I know it's going to take a lot of effort and hard work and dedication, but I hope I can add to it."

Both Pettersson and Knost are on the heavy side for professional sportsmen but Sunday's victor defended their size and feels it is more about how you play the game than the way you look. "

Just because you don't look like an athlete doesn't mean you're not an athlete," he added. "

We're not running marathons here, we're just walking 18 holes.

Maybe some of these guys are overdoing it."

England's Brian Davis continued his solid east coast form with a joint-13th place finish while Luke Donald surrendered the world number one ranking to Rory McIlroy after a disappointing week in South Carolina which saw him finish in a tie for 37th on two-over par.
